Shakespeare's Macbeth! "Fair is foul, and Foul is Fair..." (1:1:12).
Week of February 2 - 6, 2015
Monday, February 2, 2015. We will read the introductory material in the Barron's version of Macbeth, from pages 15-23, and discuss in class, as well as exploring the four major themes of the play, and other basic elements.
Tuesday - Wednesday, February 3 & 4, 2015: We will be reading aloud in class, discussing as we go, Act I, Scenes 1-3.
Thursday, February 5, 2015: Students will have time in class to begin work on describing the 1) basic "set-up" or exposition, also known as the basic problem, of the play; 2) the setting, mood, tone, and 3) basic characterization at this point. Students will be looking for at least one quote from the play so far to support, in a paragraph for each of the above. Due on Friday, February 6th.
Friday, February 6, 2015: We will begin work with our Quarter 3 outside reading. Here's the scoop! This time on the quarterly assessment, we will have a portion of the grade devoted to the number of quality pages read, with different grade ranges associated with each level: 300 pages + = A range; 200-299 pages = B range; 150-199 = C range; 100 = D range, and below that would be the F range. We will continue with our At-Home and In-Class Reflections and start new tracking sheets!
